Avocado is used more as a vegetable than as a fruit. To open it, cut the fruit in half lengthwise through its center all the way around the pit. Then twist the two halves of the avocado until one side breaks off from the pit. Its taste is not sweet, which is why can combine with many dishes. The festival is also known for having the world’s largest vat of guacamole.
