SAPODILLA

Sapodilla is a round or oval berry. Its outside skin is brown, similar to a potato. The inside flesh is white and has black seeds which are inedible. In Central America and South America it is also known as the chewing gum. Its size is between twelve centimeters long and five centimeters wide.

People usually name this fruit as the European loquat. However, in Europe it was replaced by the Japanese loquat because of its better production.

Origin

It is believed to be originally from Yucatan and other areas near the Southern Mexico. Today is cultivated in Florida and throughout the tropical areas in America.
